Sarah is a Research Coordinator with the Firelight Group. Her Master’s research focused on evaluation of social vulnerability to earthquake hazards in urban, rural, and remote communities on southern Vancouver Island. Her research experience in disaster planning relates to evaluating community perceptions of risk, vulnerability, and resilience in the face of environmental change, and planning for mitigation and adaptation to these changes.

Sarah has an extensive background in climate change education and planning with various community groups and stakeholders. She has lived and worked on BC’s central and north coast, and has gained practical experience in planning processes, group facilitation, and survey methods.

Sarah works with Firelight’s Social, Economic, and Health Research, Environmental Assessment Support, and IBA teams to provide support in conduct and design of primary research studies, desktop research, and writing, as well as critical analysis of environmental impact assessments.
