Sashka is a Junior Ecology Researcher with The Firelight Group. He creates maps and conducts statistical and geospatial analyses as part of the Ecology team.
Sashka studied Global Resource Systems (B.Sc.) at the University of British Columbia, in which he specialized in hydrology and GIS. He has collected data and evaluated land use impacts on stream ecology, hydrology and geomorphology in forested watersheds with the UBC Faculty of Forestry and the Oregon State University Department of Biological and Ecological Engineering. Interested in improving the accessibility of Western science, Sashka has also developed open-source water monitoring systems in partnership with the UBC Faculty of Land and Food Systems and the UBC Institute for Resources, Environment and Sustainability.
When not wrangling data or tinkering with electronics, Sashka enjoys playing the guitar and going for runs through the forest.
